Silver Butte Timber Co.Silver ButteTimber Company and C&D Lumber Company is seeking to hire a full-time forester to join our team. This position will be based out of Riddle, Oregon.

This is a full-time position with opportunities for exposure to all aspects of forestry and log procurement within our company. This position will be eligible to participate in the company 401K program, health insurance program, and be provided a company vehicle for use. Salary is dependent upon the skills and qualifications of the applicant.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • This job is 70% field and 30% office based
  • Focus on all aspects of sustainable forest management including silviculture, project layout, harvest administration, road design, log quality, mapping, and inventory. These forestry skills should be technical and qualified applicant should be able to administer projects, people, and tasks effectively
  • Manage projects from start to finish with help of team
  • Involvement with log procurement
  • Act as a company representative with landowners, agencies, and a variety of stakeholders
  • Develop long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with log suppliers and purchasers
     

Qualifications:

  • Forestry degree preferred, but not required
  • Forestry experience of 5+ years preferred
  • Understanding of local resources and forestry in southern Oregon
  • Understanding of Forest Practices Act
  • Hard work ethic and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced work environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to give and receive productive feedback
  • Leadership mindset and a desire to grow and develop professionally
