Hagenstein Lectures Seeking Emerging Voices in Forestry Speakers
The World Forestry Center and Society of American Foresters are accepting nominations for the 2018 Hagenstein Lectures, which will be held Sunday, October 14, at the World Forestry Center in Portland, Ore.
To select outstanding young speakers, we rely on the eyes and ears of “talent scouts” all over the country to make recommendations and nominate qualitied candidates.
EMERGING VOICES IN FORESTRY - SPEAKER QUALIFICATIONS
- Candidates must be forestry professionals.
- Candidates must be under 45 years old.
- Candidates must be champions and advocates for sustainable forest management.
- Candidates must have demonstrated skill and successful experience addressing a public audience of adults with diverse professional backgrounds and interests.
Speakers must be forward-leaning, solution-oriented professionals who can demonstrate “the power of forestry” to create new opportunities and solve real-world challenges. Their area of expertise can be local-to-global in scale and should address social, economic, and/or environmental aspects of forestry. Speakers should inspire and encourage further conversation, discussion, and inquiry. Transportation to Portland, lodging, meals, and modest stipends are provided. Deadline to submit nominations is February 20, 2018.
